  artist's statement

My current work is concerned with the vibrancy of colour and its relationship with the pictorial space. This creates a sense of place and stems from my emotional language. The viewer relates to it in a very sensual way. There is also a sense of unravelling – whether the works are figurative or abstract, or somewhere in between, – the viewer’s attention is rewarded by searching out the underlying message and motifs of each work.

My work is created out of a personal passion for colour and tonal relationships, and the effects of layering paint, often transcending the real for the imaginary.
